ஏ மூடனே ,உன் தோள் மீதே
உனைச் சுமக்க முயல்கிறாயே !...
ஓ பிச்சைக்காரனே ,
உன் வீட்டின் முன்னேயே
பிச்சைக்கு நிற்கிறாயே !

அனைத்தும் தாங்கவல்லான் கரங்களில்
உன் சுமைகள் அனைத்தையும் விட்டு அகல் .
பின் ஒருபோதும் வருந்தித் திரும்பாதே.

உன் ஆசை தன் மூச்சின் தொடுகையிலேயே
விளக்கின் சுடரை அணைத்துவிடுகிறது .
அது புனிதம் அற்றது --
உனது பரிசுகளைத் தூய்மையற்ற
அக்கரங்களில் எடுத்துவிடாதே .
புனித அன்பினில் வழங்கப்படுவதை மட்டுமே
பெற்றுக்கொள்வாய் .

O FOOL , to try to carry thyself upon thy own shoulders !
o beggar , to come to beg at thy own door !

leave all thy burdens on his hands
who can bear all ,
and never look behind in regret .

thy desire at once puts out the light of the lamp
it touches with its breath .
it is unholy --
take not thy gifts through its unclean hands .
accept only what is offered by sacred love.

என் வாழ்வின் வாழ்வே !

என் அனைத்து உறுப்புகள் மீதும்

உனது உயிர்ப்பான தொடுதல் தெரிந்து 

என் மேனியைத் தூய்மையாய் வைத்திட

எப்பொழுதும் முயல்வேன் .

என் மனதின் பகுத்தறிவின் ஒளிதூண்டும்

உண்மையாய்  நீ இருப்பது அறிந்து

என் எண்ணங்களிலிருந்து உண்மையிலாதன 

அகற்றிட எப்பொழுதும் முயல்வேன் .

என் இதயத்தின் மையக் கருவறையில் 

உன் இருக்கை இலங்குவது உணர்ந்து 

என் இதயம் இருந்து தீயவை அனைத்தும் 

எப்பொழுதும் துரத்திட முயல்வேன் ;

என் அன்பிலும் மலர்வேன் .

LIFE  of my life , i shall ever try to keep my body pure ,

knowing that thy living touch is upon all my limbs .

i shall ever try to keep all untruths out from my thoughts ,

knowing that thou art that truth which has kindled

the light of reason in my mind .

i shall ever try to drive all evils away from my heart 

and keep my love in flower ,

knowing that thou hast thy seat 

in the inmost shrine of my heart .

and it shall be my endeavour

to reveal thee in my actions ,

knowing it is thy power 

gives me strength to act .
